Patient Instructions for EEG and Ambulatory EEG
Be sure to wash hair the night before the test. Apply no hair oils or preparations of any kind. The hair should be clean and dry for the test.
A normal diet should be maintained. Before your child's EEG they should eat a regular breakfast so during the test they do not become hungry.
Any medications should be taken as ordered by your physician.
For an EEG appointment please avoid all beverages containing caffeine (soda, coffee, or tea) for a period of 12 hours prior to the EEG.
Dr. Vora has ordered a sleep deprived EEG, this means that your child will need to have as little sleep as possible for the exam.
If the EEG is performed on a smaller child, you may bring a bottle, pacifier, blanket, or anything you feel will comfort your child during the exam.
