Patient Instructions for EEG and Ambulatory EEG

•  Be sure to wash hair the night before the test. Apply no hair oils or preparations of any kind. The hair should be clean and dry for the test.

•  A normal diet should be maintained. Before your child's EEG they should eat a regular breakfast so during the test they do not become hungry.

•  Any medications should be taken as ordered by your physician.

•  For an EEG appointment please avoid all beverages containing caffeine (soda, coffee, or tea) for a period of 12 hours prior to the EEG.

•  Dr. Vora has ordered a sleep deprived EEG, this means that your child will need to have as little sleep as possible for the exam.

•  If the EEG is performed on a smaller child, you may bring a bottle, pacifier, blanket, or anything you feel will comfort your child during the exam.
